Crispy Green Bean Fries

Ingredients

  • 500 g green beans
  • sunflower oil for frying
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Flippen Lekka Spice

Method

  1. Cook beans in large pot of boiling salted water until crisp-tender, about 2 minutes
  2. Drain
  3. Cool in bowl of ice water
  4. Drain again
  5. Heat oil in deep fryer or pot over medium-high heat
  6. Combine flour, water, eggs, baking powder and Flippen Lekka Spice in large bowl and whisk until smooth batter
  7. Dip a few beans at a time into batter and shake off excess batter
  8. Cover the beans carefully with the breadcrumbs
  9. Add to hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 4 minutes per batch
  10. Using slotted spoon, transfer to paper towels to drain
  11. Sprinkle with more Flippen Lekka Spice and serve hot
