Ingredients
- I Large onion, finely chopped
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 1 large carrot, finely chopped
- 750g minced beef
- 2 tsp flour
- 300ml beef stock
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Flippen Lekka Spice to taste
- 150g mature cheddar cheese, grated
- 750g mashed potatoes
Method
- In a large saucepan, fry the onion, celery and carrot in a little oil for 3 minutes
- Add the minced beef and fry until brown
- Add the flour and continue stirring for 1 min
- Add the stock, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce and spices and bring to a boil
- Cover and simmer for 40 min, stirring occasionally
- Add the cheese and a dash of Flippen Lekka Spice to the mash and stir through
- Transfer the mince mixture to an ovenproof dish and top with the potato mixture
- Place in a preheated oven at 200 degrees C for 20 mins until the potato topping is golden brown
